| Hooray from the Board |
The creation of the Auckland Council, the Local Boards and the CCOs means the end of Sea+City by name only!
What we have achieved is, rather than being described as a legacy for greater Auckland, simply a highly successful ‘flying start ‘to the redevelopment of the Wynyard Precinct and ground work for the future Waterfront Development Agency, responsible for the Auckland waterfront from Westhaven to Teal Park.
We can stand proud and tall for our achievements, as can all our people – board, executive, staff and advisers. So too, our many stakeholders with whom achieving mutuality of positive outcomes has been very challenging for all and extremely successful.
Thank you everyone from the Board and Executive. The Sea+City name and what it has stood for will never disappear – it is the “raison d’etre” for the Auckland waterfront and its future place in Auckland’s comprehensive future!

Who are Sea+City?
Sea+City Projects Limited is the project director for public infrastructure development within Wynyard Quarter and Wynyard Crossing bridge, which will link Auckland's CBD with Jellicoe Street. Auckland Regional Holdings is the major landowner, investor and co-sponsor of the Sea+City project. Sea+City Projects Limited provides management services to Auckland Regional Holdings as well as Auckland City Council. Auckland Regional Holdings and Auckland City Council are joint partners and co-funders in the rollout of $211 million of public infrastructure on the site.
Where is Wynyard Quarter?
Wynyard Quarter is an area of 27 hectares on Auckland's waterfront, west of Viaduct Harbour and north of Fanshawe Street. In stages over the next 25 years it will become a harbourside community with parks and plazas, apartments, shops and offices alongside the traditional marine and fishing industries.

Message from the Chief Executive and Project Director
Welcome to the final edition of the Sea+City Projects e-newsletter. From 1 November Sea+City Projects Ltd will cease to exist and its roles and responsibilities – and project team – will become part of the new Auckland Waterfront Development Agency (AWDA), a council controlled organisation (CCO) of the new Auckland Council.
Please be assured that apart from the change of name, it's work as usual down here at the Pier 21 office. In fact we’ll still be here, occupying more space and you’ll notice a different logo on the door. In addition the same names and faces will be here along with extra helpers to handle a whole new raft of work handed over from the Auckland City Council and Auckland Regional Council (Westhaven, parts of Wynyard Quarter and Queens Wharf).

Keep those ideas flowing....
My sincere thanks to all those who have contributed ideas, drawings and photographs to the Ideas Bank on this website. It’s been terrific to witness the passion and concern shown for the spaces we are creating. While not all ideas have been put in to action, all ideas have been considered and spurred discussion with many contributing to the concepts shaping our shared public spaces.
This portal will continue to operate on the AWDA website and we hope you, the people of Auckland, will continue to make requests and share your ideas with our senior design team.

Waterfront Works
Work is progressing rapidly across several key project areas along Auckland’s waterfront.
Jellicoe Street Western Berthage
The $1.5m Super Yacht Marina became operational early October and the three new 90m berths were fully occupied within six days. One of the world’s largest super yachts, the 88m Athena has been in residence along with two 50m plus yachts Atasca and Evica. Adjacent construction work at Silo Park means limited access has been made available to crew from Beaumont Street. For further information call Luke Wigglesworth on 09 336 8820.
Silo Park
Declamation works are in progress. In ground services are well underway with piling works to the wetlands and tidal steps due to commence within the coming week. Foundation excavations and formwork for the gantry have started. Restoration of the historic rail line has begun.
North Wharf and promenade
Seismic strengthening on North Wharf has been completed and structural work on the old Red Shed is on schedule to finish in February 2011. Two new adjacent building structures will receive roofs and gutters over the next few weeks.
Jellicoe Street
Construction works are progressing well in Jellicoe Street East and West. The first concrete paving slabs have been poured and the first paving has been laid.
Viaduct Events Centre
Seven of 14 40m long 55 tonne roof trusses are now in position and clearly visible from the Viaduct Harbour and Wynyard Point.
Gateway Plaza
Preparation of the new Gateway Plaza site has begun with the removal of the Emirates Team New Zealand on the western edge of Viaduct Harbour. Team New Zealand has moved south to the old Alinghi base and its old home is being dismantled and sold. This development is significant as it creates a visual window to the Jellicoe Street spine construction from the Viaduct Basin.
Wynyard Crossing
Preliminary work on the construction of Wynyard Crossing – an interim pedestrian and cycling bridge over the Viaduct Harbour – has begun. Old piles are being removed at the western edge of Viaduct Harbour and construction of the new bridge is designed to minimize disruption to Viaduct tenants and boaties.
